Discover why Red’s Shoe Barn is so unique
Just ask anybody you meet if they’ve heard of Red’s Shoe Barn…
And chances are… they have!
Red’s Shoe Barn, in business for over 52 years, is well known to people all over the tri-states of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
Red’s Shoe Barn’s rich and deeply rooted history began in 1958 in Dover, New Hampshire, when founder, “Red” Murray stocked his start-up business with shoes made in the local factories.
So… why is Red’s history important?
Because the Red’s family business focused on things nobody else did:
People, integrity, respect, and extraordinary value!
So Red’s thrived by offering customers from all over New England:
- Great selection of footwear for the entire family
- With great savings
- And old-fashioned personal service
These 3S’s…selection…savings…service continue to be Red’s primary customer focus to this day.
And when you add this 4th S…satisfaction…you get value you just can’t find at any other shoe store.
Under the watchful eyes of owner, Red’s son Pat Murray, and General Manager Dave Whitehouse, (who’s been with Red’s for over 50 years), Red’s Shoe Barn has continually added brands from around the world and expanded to become one of New England’s largest footwear retailers.
Dave says: “Our success and growth boils down to our guiding philosophy of “don’t just make a sale, make a customer.”
Great employees ensure your satisfaction
Today…Red’s has shoe stores in Dover and Plaistow NH, with over 100 loyal employees, many who’ve been there over 10 years.
They’ve been in the shoe business for over 5 decades, providing thousands of customers all over New Hampshire, southern Maine, and northern Massachusetts an ideal shoe shopping experience.
Carolyn Donavan has been with Red’s for 25 years, and is the ladies shoe buyer. With her talented eye for value and style, she selects from the latest styles and trends from the hottest brands. Her job is to make sure you always have a unique and fun shopping experience, so there’s always something fresh and exciting arriving at Red’s.
Loyal and generous support for local youths and business
The Murrays have always believed in giving back to the community, local kids, and their customers.
With this philosophy, Red’s has always supported local youth sports in Dover, even being part of the original founding board for Dover’s Pee Wee Football.
Because of Red’s mission to help all kids play sports, even if they couldn’t afford to play, they consistently contribute to and sponsor Little League teams, as well as being a sponsor to the Dover Ice Arena.
Then there’s the Red’s Annual Road Race for charity. The 26th annual race had over 500 runners from all over New Hampshire, and was able to help out seven local charities.
How’s that for local community support?
Between the Dover and Plaistow, N.H. locations, there’s over 33,000 square feet of retail space (that’s almost half of a football field), plus two additional warehouses that help keep the main locations fully stocked.
